Computer Crisis Browser Recommendation

January 12th, 2009

Not too long ago there was another “security issue” with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Microsoft titled the problem as, “Vulnerability in Internet Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution”. I’m sure you don’t want someone accessing your computer without permission.

If you did not already get the security fix then run Windows Update and make sure you have all of the security fixes for Internet Explorer.

You don’t have to use Internet Explorer if you don’t want to. Believe it or not, you have a choice. Here at Computer Crisis we recommend Mozilla Firefox. It’s more secure than Internet Explorer. Click Here to download Mozilla Firefox.

In Mozilla Firefox you have Bookmarks as opposed to having Favorites in Internet Explorer. During your installation of Mozilla Firefox, you can actually transfer your Favorites over to Mozilla Firefox. So you will still have all of the websites that you saved.

Is your computer really secure?

January 6th, 2009

Computer SecurityHello everyone. Today I would like to ask you all a simple question. Is your computer really secure? If you are unsure then please give us a call at 216-577-5878 and one of our technicians will come out to check your computer for free. Yes you heard me right, I said free. Here at Computer Crisis we want everyone to have a secure computer. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Is your wireless network secured? Even if your computer is fully secured with the latest software, you may still be at risk. If a stranger connects to your wireless network, they can see everything your doing over the internet. That includes which websites you visit, your usernames, passwords and other confidential information. Any information that you send over the internet is at risk. Computer Crisis can also check out your wireless network for you.

Also, if your wireless network is not secured, someone can connect and even shutdown your wireless network. They may also be able to change your wireless network name(SSID) and even block your computer from connecting.

Having an unsecured wireless network can also get you into trouble with the law. Let’s say a stranger connects to your wireless network and they start doing ilegal actions online. Since they are connected to “your” wireless network, “you” will most likely be the person the law will question and possibly prosecute.

To avoid any of the above situations, please give Computer Crisis a call today at 216-577-5878.
